About the Authors |
Carrie A. Miles holds a doctorate in social and organizational psychology
from the University of Chicago, and wrote her thesis on religion, social change,
and the roles of women and men, a subject on which she continues to do research.
Her new book, The Redemption of Love: Rescuing
Marriage and Sexuality from the Economics of a Fallen World was published by Brazos Press in 2006.
She is a senior research associate at the Center for the Economic Study of
Religion at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. In addition to
speaking and teaching on the Bible and male/female relationships -- work that
has expanded into the creation of a new international ministry that included,
most recently, two weeks in Uganda -- Dr. Miles works as an organizational
consultant and is the executive officer of the Association for the Study of
Religion, Economics, and Culture. She is married to her co-author,
Laurence Iannaccone, and they have two children. For more information on the
ministry, click here.Male and Female in Christ had its beginning in a series of sermons given by Laurence R. Iannaccone. Professor Iannaccone holds a doctorate in economics, also from the University of Chicago, and is the Koch Professor of Economics at George Mason University in Virginia. An award-winning and popular teacher, Dr. Iannaccone also has an international reputation for his work applying the tools of economics to understanding religious practices and institutions. He is the founding president of the Association for the Study of Religion, Economics, and Culture. The role of women in the church, particularly in the writing of the Apostle Paul, has long interested him. |
